2021: Postcards From the Edge
“Postcards from the Edge” ran from the 19th of April to the 30th of May.
In this exhibition, the students created artworks as a set of postcards inspired by but also interpreting the Hunt Museum Collection based on four contemporary social issues and contexts:
Black Lives Matter
Environment
Gender
Origins
Second Year students were required to create a body of research work and specific artworks that were inspired by The Hunt Museum's permanent that were then transformed and printed as a set of postcards that will exist virtually and in physically. This project provides the opportunity for painting students to actively engage and respond to the Hunt Museum’s important collection, which includes over 2,000 works of art, including Picasso, Giacometti, Gauguin, and Renoir as well as vitrines full of curious artifacts.
Each Year a diverse range of ideas and concepts emerge from this annual collaborative project and process, not only regarding the actual objects and paintings on view but also the display methods used by the Hunt Museum.
